1. Working principle: The core working principle of the sewage pump is to use centrifugal force to transport liquid, which is exactly the same as the definition of a centrifugal pump. The motor drives the impeller to rotate at high speed. The sewage in the impeller is thrown around the pump casing under the action of centrifugal force, forming pressure and discharged from the outlet. At the same time, a low-pressure area is formed in the center of the impeller to suck in new sewage.

 

2. Design features: The sewage pump is a specialized branch of the centrifugal pump, and its design is specially optimized for the characteristics of sewage:

 

Anti-clogging design: The impeller channel is usually designed to be wider (such as swirl impeller, single-channel impeller, double-channel impeller, spiral centrifugal impeller) so that solid particles in the sewage (such as fibers, plastic bags, hair, debris, silt, etc.) can pass through to avoid clogging. Some also have cutting or tearing devices.

 

Wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials: Pump body, impeller and other flow-through parts are usually made of cast iron, stainless steel (such as 304, 316L) or special alloys to resist the corrosiveness of sewage and the wear of solid particles.

 

Sealing method: Especially for submersible sewage pumps (the most common type of sewage pumps), mechanical seals (single seal, double seal) or oil chamber/air chamber seals are used to ensure that sewage does not penetrate into the motor. Dry-installed sewage pumps (such as vertical/horizontal non-clogging centrifugal pumps) also use special shaft seals.

 

Structural form: The most common is the submersible sewage pump (completely immersed in sewage), and there are also dry-installed vertical or horizontal sewage pumps.
